Project to build up social and inter- cultural integration

School of basic Italian linguage

It is from 2001 that The UNIVERSO Inter-cultural Association is working out a project to integrate different cultures. His main target is the opening of an office taking care of people coming from the poorest countries in the world. When in Bologna they must face the difficult reality to be an immigrant. They are for the most, men, women and children, they cannot understand the complex mechanisms ruling our society and the net of the administrative department. They cannot get information and the lacking of Italian language prevent them to overcome the obstacles arousing by mental barriers and prejudices. Besides in our town there are not places where multi-ethnic people can meet and exchange ideas and culture. The target aiming Universo Inter-cultural Association is to create a centre working together with the offices that the local administration has opened in Bologna to receive immigrants, helping foreigners to solve all dayly problems. It is a really difficult and ambitious target, but we have already consolidated it during the last two years of work when we have really helped people coming from other countries and from the poorest conditions to feel supported.

We strongly believe that any human being has the right to live with dignity thus preventing him from skidding towards the allure of organized crime

Fortified from the experience that we bring about from 2003, we want to develop our project according to the following main lines:

1. An office opened from Monday to Saturday where our operators can be problem solving to give information how to obtain residence permission, fiscal code, sanitary assistance. How to find a house, a work, to be introduced to shool and legal support as well.

The office is opened from Monday to Saturday from10 a.m to 3 p.m. Located in Piazza di Porta Galliera 7 – Bologna

2. A free course of basic Italian language and grammar just to teaching primary steps of the language allowing people to face the simplest everyday needs.
